Joe’s Friendly Service was founded by Joseph Colamussi Sr and his wife Amelia, during 1953 in Douglaston, New York. Their first store was a Sinclair Service Station.

In 1963, in anticipation of the World’s Fair, Esso rebuilt the station next door into a modern 3 bay facility. Joe Sr and Amelia took over this facility with great success.

The Colamussis son Joe Jr. began to work in the store after school and eventually moved to a full time employee while going to college. in 1981 Joe Jr. became a full partner.

In 1986 the Colamussis sold the Esso station and purchased an Exxon station in Huntington so Joe Jr. could be closer to his young family. Joe Sr. retired.

After 5 years, Exxon modernised this location and it became Oakwood Car Care.

In 1993 Joe moved Oakwood Car Care to its present location at the corner of Park Ave and Broadway in Huntington. The new garage offered 6 bays, modern equipment and a comfortable waiting area. Since then Joe has built a highly regarded business.

In recent year Joe Jr’s son Anthony has joined the business after completing his business degree from C.W. Post to make it a 3rd generation.
